Out There: Danny Garcia (Reverend Baron)
Thrasher has put out another of their interesting Out There series videos. This time it focuses on Danny Garcia and his musical alter ego, Reverend Baron.
Danny was one of the top pros back in the day, skating for Habitat and éS and is probably best remembered for his seminal part in Habitat's Mosaic from 2003 - watch below!
The new video follows Danny to his old home, original skate spots, and visits his new "ladder studio", where he creates his music. His musical output has a relaxed vibe to it, and could sound just as at home as a soundtrack to a Jacques Tati film as a skate video!
We at Really Stoked are all for musical skateboarders, as it's close to our hearts too! Skate-rock, hip hop made by skaters, experimental music, it's very cool how much artistry is endemic in skateboarders, audio, visual and whatever else!
The latest release, Alright, OK., is the soundtrack to the Greg Hunt produced Vans video of the same name, released at the end of last year. This features Elijah Berle and Gilbert Crockett, and it's rad to see Danny's influence is still there on skate flicks. Watch it by clicking here.
You can listen to Danny's music as Baron Reverend on Spotify: click here, and you should also watch Danny's Nine Club interview from 2017 here. which talks about his switch from a career in skateboarding to becoming a musician.
