Five Skate Artists on Instagram you should Check Out (Part 1)
Instagram is overflowing with creativity (and some gormless narcissists). So many skateboarders are creative in one way or another, and there are a ton of skate artists you should check out. Here are five of our favourites (and no doubt we’ll list more another time):
Waybad / Ben Jensen

Amusing cartoons and a “sick” sense of humour in both meanings of the word, combined with an understanding of skateboard culture and the problems that go with it.
HacketIllustration / Phil Hackett

Really funny and surreal juxtapositions of skateboards into places they shouldn’t be. Phil definitely captures the fun of skateboarding.
As well as his skateboard related illustrations, he also produces work for some of the biggest magazines and newspapers.
Deltamojo / Sam D.

Taking traditional pen and ink work with a touch of Americana plus added skate rat flavour.
Look out for some of his rad Anti Hero boards, in particular.
Jon Horner

If you like a laugh, and you like skateboarding and art, you’ll like Jon Horner.
Some really elaborate and humorous takes on old skate graphics and references to skateboard history. Jon has produced some great work for Lovenskate, Carve Wicked, Crayon and all sorts, as well as zines and the “Why So Sad?” Project with John Rattray.
Exteenager / Robbie Arias

Expertly catching the gnarly side of skateboarding, with a graphic style (and added skulls) that is as raw as the classic skate shots Robbie’s art is based on.
This art has a distinctive post-apocalyptic look, despite being created using colour and pencil and acrylic paint.
He rips on-board too!
